A key component of Service Stars' mission is introducing young people to the work of nonprofit organizations and helping them understand how individuals and groups create positive change in their communities. An important aspect of nonprofit work is documenting impact and sharing stories that inspire action. This eight-week series will guide students through the process of storytelling using both audio and visual media. Students will explore podcasting and documentary filmmaking while learning about a local nonprofit organization and creating media that highlights its work. Through interviews, video and audio recording, writing, storyboarding, editing, and production, students will gain hands-on experience as media creators while learning about organizations that are making Massachusetts cleaner, greener, kinder, and more equitable.
