Music has a unique ability to connect people across generations and create meaningful community experiences. In this five-week service-learning series, students will use music as a tool for connection by preparing a performance inspired by the musical memories and preferences of local seniors. Students will engage directly with community members by collecting information about favorite songs and musical experiences. They will then learn and rehearse selected songs, explore the stories behind them, and prepare a performance designed to bring joy and connection to senior residents. Along the way, students will gain experience in musical performance, recording, interviewing, and community engagement while discovering how the arts can be used as a form of service.Series Overview
